With 2026 in its final months, cruise bargains for the rest of the year come down to three things: which weeks families are at work and school, how close to sailing you can book, and how much you want to be away for the holidays.
Where Cruise Bargains 2026 Still Sit
- Early to mid-December. The stretch after Thanksgiving week and before the Christmas break is traditionally one of the quieter periods for Caribbean, Bahamas and Mexico cruises.
- November outside Thanksgiving. The end of hurricane season, warm water and school in session.
- Short sailings. Three- to five-night cruises from Florida, Texas and California fill gaps between longer cruises and are often good value on short notice.
- Fall repositioning. Ships heading to winter homes in Florida, the Caribbean or the Pacific coast, when space remains.
Holiday sailings — Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year — are the opposite. They are among the most in-demand weeks of the year. If you must travel then, book as early as you can for the next holiday season and treat a lower fare as a bonus.
Booking Late in 2026
Close-in bookings can be bargains, especially for travelers who live near a port and can drive. They work best if you are flexible on ship and cabin. The catch is that last-minute airfare can cancel out the saving, and payment is due in full right away. Our sister site Last Minute Cruising covers short-notice booking in detail.
Already thinking beyond this year? Many 2027 fares and sale offers are released in late 2026 and during Wave Season, so it is a good time to compare before the January rush. See our 2027 page.

Holiday Cruises Without the Holiday Fares
If you want to be at sea for the holidays but not pay peak prices, look at the edges. A cruise that ends a few days before Christmas, or starts just after New Year, often costs much less than one that sails across the holiday itself. Some travelers celebrate at home and take a “holiday” cruise in early December when ships are already decorated. Flexible families can also book next year’s holiday sailing now, which secures the cabin they want rather than waiting for the last few.
Living near a port is the hidden advantage of late-year bargains. Travelers who can drive to Miami, Port Canaveral, Galveston, New Orleans, Los Angeles or Seattle avoid the high cost of short-notice flights and can say yes to a good fare the moment it appears.
Whatever you book late, buy travel insurance at the same time, since the usual long gap between booking and sailing is gone.
