Cruise Bargains, Season by Season

The real bargains are predictable. Here is the pattern.

Find My Cruise Bargain

Cruise Bargains Follow the Calendar

The best cruise bargains are not random. They appear in predictable places: a region’s quieter weeks, the sailings that move ships between seasons, and the months when families are back at school. Learn the pattern and you can plan a cruise bargain a year ahead instead of hoping one turns up.

This site maps that pattern. We compare cruise bargains by season for each major region, look at what is left of 2026, show where 2027’s bargains are likely to sit, and explain repositioning cruises and cruise travel packages. We never print prices — fares change by the hour — but the calendar behind them changes slowly.

Five Places Bargains Live

  • Shoulder weeks. The first and last weeks of a region’s season — May and September in Alaska, April and October in the Mediterranean.
  • Hurricane-season Caribbean. Late summer and fall sailings outside school breaks, with ships able to change course around storms.
  • Repositioning cruises. One-way voyages when ships move between Alaska, the Caribbean and Europe, heavy on sea days.
  • Less-famous itineraries. A different mix of ports, an older ship or an unusual length can cost less than the classic week.
  • Sensible packages. A cruisetour or air-inclusive fare can be the bargain when flights and hotels are counted.

None of these is a trick. Each is a trade-off: cooler weather, more sea days, a smaller choice of cabins or a ship without the newest attractions. The bargain is choosing the trade-off you do not mind.

Booking time matters too. Some of the year’s best offers arrive during Wave Season each January to March, and short-notice sailings can be good value if you are flexible — see our sister site Last Minute Cruising. For offers live today, Cruising for Less lists current fares.

QuestionWhy it matters

How do I get to the port, and back from a one-way cruise?Flights can turn a bargain fare into an expensive trip
What is the weather and sea like that week?Shoulder and storm seasons are the reason fares are lower
Which ship, and how old?Older ships often cost less and can be excellent; check what you will miss
Is the cabin assigned or a guarantee?Guarantee fares can save money but you do not choose the location

Cruise Bargains: Quick Answers

What makes a cruise a real bargain?

A good ship, a good itinerary and a fair total price at a time when demand is lower. A fare is only a bargain if the whole trip — flights, taxes, gratuities and the season’s weather — still works for you.

When are cruise bargains easiest to find?

In each region’s quieter weeks: the Caribbean in late summer and fall outside holidays, Alaska in May and September, Europe in spring and late fall, and repositioning sailings when ships change regions.

Do you list cruise bargains with prices?

No. Fares change daily. We explain where and when bargains appear; for live fares, ask our cruise advisors at Mister Cruise or check our sister sites with current offers.
